In February of 2009, Kyle Beachy's first novel, THE SLIDE, was published by The Dial Press / Random House. The novel won the Chicago Reader's 2009 "Readers' Choice" award for Best Book by a Chicago Author in the Last Year. His short stories and essays have appeared in Knee-Jerk, Hobart, decomP, The2ndHand, as a Featherproof Mini-Book, and elsewhere. He has been a Breadloaf Waiter Scholar and a recipient of the International Summer Residency at Hald Hovedgaard, Denmark. Currently, Kyle teaches at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago while he continues work on his second novel.
